Handoff — FE-CFDP-CLAUDE-001

  • Objective: Run the first real (non-synthetic) ROS–FE execution, as framework-discovery-agent, to discover and record what primary/secondary sources report about the OODA Loop's origin, structure, operation, human context, adaptation guidance, and limitations — without asserting effectiveness.
  • Acceptance criteria: Draft source, framework, Genome, and at least one observation record produced and internally consistent with fe-record.schema.json/framework-genome.schema.json; provenance preserved; ros-fe:registry, ros-fe:validate, ros-fe:test, and research:validate all pass with this execution's files present.
  • Completed:
    • 5 draft source records (FE-SRC-OODA-001..005) — 2 primary Boyd briefings, 1 secondary scholarly monograph, 1 secondary critical commentary, 1 tertiary encyclopedia reference.
    • 1 draft framework record (FE-FW-OODA-001).
    • 1 draft Framework Genome (FE-GENOME-OODA-001) covering all nine required dimensions, using not-reported/conflicting where sources did not settle a claim.
    • 1 draft observation (FE-OBS-OODA-001) on diagram-provenance divergence between Boyd's own diagram and the popular four-box form.
    • 1 draft contradiction (FE-CONTRA-OODA-001) on a disputed Korean War kill-ratio figure.
    • execution-manifest.yaml, research-journal.md, source-index.yaml.
  • Files changed:
    • New: everything under research/framework-engineering/ros-profile/executions/claude/2026-07-28/FE-CFDP-CLAUDE-001/.
    • Regenerated: research/framework-engineering/ros-profile/generated/executions.json (via npm run ros-fe:registry; this registry only indexes execution manifests, not the draft records themselves, since drafts were intentionally kept out of the canonical ros-profile/records/ tree).
  • Decisions and assumptions:
    • Role, target framework, and provider were not specified in the initial instruction and were confirmed with the user before any writes, per start-work-agent.md's own escalation rule for choices that would materially change scope.
    • Interpreted "write only within the assigned execution directory unless the assignment explicitly authorizes profile maintenance" (execution-profile.md) as meaning these first-pass records stay as drafts inside the execution directory rather than being written into canonical ros-profile/records/, consistent with the synthetic execution's own records/README.md note that "a real execution keeps draft records here until reviewed and registered." No profile-maintenance authorization was given, so canonical registration was not performed.
    • family: "hybrid" on the framework record is an FE-taxonomy classification applied by this execution, not a claim from Boyd's own sources — flagged explicitly in the record's family_rationale field.
  • Checks and results (from FE repo root, after this execution's files existed):
    • npm run ros-fe:registry → exit 0, "ROS–FE registries generated".
    • npm run ros-fe:validate → exit 0, "ROS–FE profile validation passed".
    • npm run ros-fe:test → exit 0, 2/2 tests passed.
    • npm run research:validate → exit 0, no output/errors.
  • Evidence/records: FE-SRC-OODA-001 through FE-SRC-OODA-005, FE-FW-OODA-001, FE-GENOME-OODA-001, FE-OBS-OODA-001, FE-CONTRA-OODA-001 — all under this execution's records/ directory, status draft.
  • Unresolved questions:
    • Whether Boyd himself, in the primary briefings, cited the ~10:1 Korean War kill ratio, or whether that figure originated with later popularizers (FE-CONTRA-OODA-001).
    • The exact visual content of Boyd's 1995/1996 diagram — reported via secondary commentary only, not independently verified against the primary image.
    • Full-text verification of FE-SRC-OODA-001, FE-SRC-OODA-002, and FE-SRC-OODA-003 remains outstanding; several Genome fields are not-reported partly for that reason and may be fillable on full-text review rather than genuinely absent from the sources.
  • Risks: These are draft, single-provider, not-full-text-verified records; if promoted to canonical status without further review or a second-provider execution, they could be mistaken for more settled evidence than they are. Every record carries confidence: low or medium and explicit limitations for this reason.
  • Blockers: None. This execution completed within its assigned scope.
  • Next action: (1) Human or separately authorized review of the five draft record types for promotion into ros-profile/records/; (2) commission an independent second-provider execution on the OODA Loop per FE-CFDP's next_execution field, to test whether an independent provider reaches consistent or divergent Genome values — same-provider role separation would not itself satisfy this; (3) if promoted, full-text review of the two primary Boyd briefings to resolve the not-reported fields.
