Identity-Capability Principle

Research Question

Can knowledge artifacts be described more accurately by separating identity from capabilities?

Hypothesis

A knowledge artifact's identity is determined by its dominant purpose.

A knowledge artifact's capabilities describe the functions it can perform.

Identity and capabilities are related but independent properties.

Separating them should improve classification consistency and reduce reviewer disagreement.

Predictions

• Reviewers will agree more frequently on identity than under the previous primary/secondary artifact model.
• Capabilities will exhibit natural overlap across artifact identities.
• Framework Engineering Cube will become simpler.
• Boundary cases such as Scrum, Kanban, MITRE ATT&CK, BPMN, TOGAF, and CMMI will become easier to classify.

Derived from FE-008 Pilot Batch 001 and Batch 002.

Success Criteria

• Improved reviewer agreement.
• Reduced ambiguity.
• Cleaner operational definitions.

Failure Criteria

• Capabilities become indistinguishable from identity.
• Reviewer disagreement remains unchanged.
