Evidence Decision Record Specification

Evidence Decision Record Specification

An Evidence Decision Record records what a completed evidence run warrants.

An EDR is not a report.

An EDR is not a theory document.

An EDR is not a confidence update.

An EDR is a decision artifact that converts evidence into next research action.

Required Questions

Every EDR must answer:

  1. What question were we trying to answer?
  2. What competing explanations existed before the evidence?
  3. What did we observe?
  4. Which explanations became less plausible?
  5. Which explanations survived?
  6. What uncertainty remains?
  7. What experiment maximizes expected information gain?

Required Separation

Observation

What was directly recorded.

Interpretation

What the observation may mean.

Decision

What research action follows.

Required Flow

ECR or experiment -> observations -> comparator or measurement -> Evidence Decision Record -> Hypothesis Review Board -> Research Queue -> next highest-information experiment
