Framework Engineering Roadmap
Framework Engineering Roadmap
Status: Working draft
Phase I -- Foundation
Objective: Establish the architectural and philosophical foundations of the discipline.
Phase II -- Proof
Objective: Demonstrate that Framework Engineering can successfully produce a high-quality framework.
Phase III -- Framework Taxonomy Research
Objective: Test whether framework archetypes exist.
Activities:
- Framework Census
- Grammar Reduction
- Blind Clustering
- Archetype Naming
- Predictive Testing
Exit Criteria:
- Candidate archetypes identified from evidence
- Frameworks classified by grammar
- FE-002 supported, refined, or rejected
Current Research Workstreams
FE-007 -- Knowledge Artifact Taxonomy
Purpose: Clarify the scope of Framework Engineering by defining related structured knowledge artifact types.
FE-008 -- Knowledge Artifact Boundary Study
Purpose: Characterize knowledge artifacts before classification and test whether provisional primary and secondary classifications improve boundary clarity.
Phase IV -- External Validation
Objective: Determine whether Framework Engineering remains effective outside its creators.
Phase V -- Discipline Maturity
Objective: Transition Framework Engineering from a project into an engineering discipline.
